1944 WARBIRD A26 Invader/OnMarkNashville, Michigan
Douglas A-26 On Mark Invader project.
Aircraft was undergoing a decade long award winning restoration before we acquired her. The fuselage was taken down to bare bones & all corrosion was removed. The upgraded OnMark Ring spar was removed & reworked. The new skins are currently drilled out & awaiting installation. I have received estimates around the 1 week mark, to finish reskinning. The airframe is currently in a jig, that is included with the purchase.
The tail cone has been completed, including new hardware, and is ready for paint. It is currently in a shipping jig, that is included.
The wings will require some work. The spars are flyable. All bladders, hoses, and wiring has been removed from the wings. We have removed the rear nacelles so the wings can be transported either flat or vertical, without needing oversize permits. Photos of the wings are before we removed the rear nacelles.
Vertical & horizontal have been stripped & received some work
The hydraulic pack was removed as one piece and is still together.
All 3 wheels & tires are included
There are multiple pallets of the parts removed. Almost everything is labeled as to what it is & where it goes
The items we know to be missing are: the rudder, firewall forward on both sides, pilot&copilot seats, nose gear leg, and one of the main landing gear legs
This aircraft has history with the French Air Force in the French-Indochina War (I have a photo), the CIA in Thailand, and the Whittington Brothers of NASCAR fame. Rare opportunity to get a warbird bomber project already located on the east coast! This could be turned into a static display for relatively easy, but return to airworthy was on her mind.
